individuals
Gentle, good humored, competent, and professional therapy is the heart of my practice, and has improved the lives of those struggling with mood disorders, stress, life transitions, and personality disorders, including families with a mentally ill member.
couples
I've helped couples experiencing low to high conflict, infidelity, or other relationship trauma, who wanted to save or improve their relationship, or who had a specific goal of divorce prevention. Many couples also find it beneficial to periodically return to therapy for relationship "tune-ups." Importantly, it's my task to provide equal and mutual support to both partners, meaning I don't take sides.
families
As a parent myself, my work with adolescents and their parents to achieve greater closeness while improving communication has been a particularly satisfying aspect of my practice. Even when a family member refuses therapy, positive change is possible when other family members seek gentle assistance to resolve family issues.
men
I help partner relationships thrive by assisting men to be more fully present, while achieving their individual goals. I also help unpartnered men to improve their relationships with self and others. I take satisfaction in achieving successful outcomes with clients who believed therapy could never improve their relationships and lives.
depression + anxiety
I have extensive experience treating anxiety, panic, stress, OCD, anger, and depression, and count many successful outcomes, thanks to decades of continuing education and training in these areas.
sober living
My experience treating substance abuse successfully, both in private practice and in county psychiatric hospital and outpatient clinics, informs and enriches my entire practice.
safe haven
I warmly welcome adolescent and adult clients of every ethnicity, faith, education, history, employment status, and gender into my practice. I'm also LGBTQ+ friendly; my pronouns are he/him.
coaching
For those outside California I offer life coaching, a process in which I join with clients to guide them toward unearthing, exploring, and enacting the life changes they want most. Note: I'm not able to diagnose psychological conditions, provide "therapy," or create superbills for coaching clients.
